LE BOURGET, June 21 – Antonov state-run enterprise is working on the certification of the An-148/158/168 new generation passenger regional jets in the European Union.

Antonov Chief Designer and Director General Dmytro Kyva said on Monday at the Le Bourget 2011 Air Show, today a certificate has been obtained from the European Aviation Safety Agency for equipment and crew giving and obtaining orders in English. The next stage is the certification of the engine unit of the aircraft, the chief designer said.

"Unfortunately, we haven’t obtained an EASA certificate for the engine [D-436-148 designed by Ivchenko Progress and made by OJSC Motor Sich], so we're considering an alternative engine," he said.
