KIEV, May 10 – The Ukrainian law on access to public information came into force on May 9.
As reported, on February 3, 2011, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed a law on access to public information and a law on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on ensuring access to public information, which the parliament adopted on January 13, 2011.
The president's representative in parliament, Yuriy Miroshnychenko, said that the law on access to public information foresaw a five-day period for giving a response to an information request, or a two-day period in the case of an urgent request.
