KIEV, May 4 - Many Ukrainian banks are asking stabilization loans issued by the central bank to be prolonged, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Serhiy Arbuzov said in an interview with the Ekonomicheskiye Izvestiya newspaper.
"Many banks that received stabilization loans failed to calculate the deadline to return the funds to the NBU and are now asking for a prolongation. The National Bank is now able to prolong stabilization loans issued to the banks for a term not exceeding three months and only under highly liquid security," he said.
