KIEV, April 29 - UC Rusal's Ukraine-based Zaporizhiya Aluminum Smelter (ZALK) has halted aluminum production due to losses caused by high costs and electricity charges, the smelter's spokeswoman, Viktoria Pleschenko, told Interfax.

Alexander Kotyuk, ZALK's general director, had ordered that the pot-lines be stopped between April 5 and 28.
