KIEV, April 11 – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will arrive in Kiev on Tuesday for talks seeking to persuade Ukraine to join the Moscow-led trade bloc, a Ukrainian official said Monday.

The process of joining the bloc, known as the Customs Union and including Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, may automatically derail Ukraine’s free trade negotiations with the European Union.

“The issues of joining the Customs Union will be discussed,” the official said.
