KIEV, April 4 – The Ukrainian government will monitor the prices of gasoline so as not to allow them to exceed the permitted price ceiling, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boyko said.
"Price correction is needed, as the speculation on the fuel market has increased," he said on the Inter TV channel late on April 1, 2011.
"Taking into account the sensitivity of prices for all sectors, in all walks of life, the government and the state will always strictly monitor the prices of fuel and adjust them downwards. Despite the disorder in the mass media seen recently regarding the government's activities to reduce price of fuel, we'll continue this policy, as we have a clear example from our neighbors in Turkey, who [have a price of] EUR 2.95 for gasoline now," he said.
