KIEV, March 15 – The resumption of the practical realization of a program to construct a new corvette for the Ukrainian Navy in 2012 needs future state financing of at least UAH 2.5 billion, a high-ranking source in the Ukrainian military circles told Interfax-Ukraine.
"The project of the state targeted defense program to construct corvette warships in Ukraine has been already drawn up. At present the key point is its agreement and timely approval, which would allow the submission of an application for 2012, so as to resume the practical realization of the program as soon as next year. Taking into account that in 2010-2011 the realization of the program by the state completely failed, the need for state financing to get the program back on schedule is estimated in 2012 at least at UAH 2-2.5 billion," the source told the agency.
