Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Feb. 25 – A package of anti-corruption laws is to be adopted in Parliament in the first half of 2011, according to President Viktor Yanukovych.

"It is to be endorsed in the first half of the year, and I give you a guarantee that it would start working by the end of this [parliamentary] session," he said during the Conversation with the Country television project on Friday.

"This is my law, I signed it and sent it to the parliament, and it will be considered as a top-priority one," he said.

He said that "red tape officials are hindering this work in Ukraine."

Yanukovych said that this hindering of the fight against corruption was seen in the parliament.
