KIEV, Feb. 23 – The cabinet could increase the country's wheat export quotas by 500,000-800,000 tons by the end of the current marketing year (July 1, 2011, MY), according to Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
"I'm sure that next marketing year there will not be quotas, as long as there are no natural disasters or too high demand on the foreign markets," the ministry's press service said, citing Prysiazhniuk.
He said that the allocation of UAH 5 billion for forward purchases of agricultural products favor the cancellation of the quotas, as this will allow the government to stabilize prices and ensure food security.
