KHARKIV, Feb. 15 – President Viktor Yanukovych has announced plans to boost gross domestic product by at least UAH 100 billion per year.
"We've finally passed a trillion [hryvnias per year] of GDP," he said during a meeting of the regional committee on economic reform in Kiev on Tuesday.
"Today's task is to boost it approximately by at least UAH 100 billion per year. Anyway, this is in our plans… We're looking at 2012 and believe that to achieve UAH 1.3 trillion, [which will be] about UAH 200 billion [up] in 2012, is realistic."
He said 2010 had been a year of ordeals.
"Thank God we lived through it, got a 4.5% rise in GDP, an 11% rise in production, and the budget deficit shrank to 5.5% from 15%," he said.
