KIEV, Feb. 10 – Ukraine is extending its presence on the world market of space technology, relying on multilateral international cooperation and the country's potential, said Chief Designer and CEO of Ukraine's leading rocket and space technology developer Pivdenne Design Bureau (Dnipropetrovsk), Oleksandr Dehtiariov.
"Ukraine is acting on the world market of space technology as an independent and self-reliant player," he said in an interview with the U.S. weekly Space News.
Dehtiariov noted that in 2010 Ukraine started supplying the assembly parts for the first stage for the new American Taurus-II light class rocket under a contract with the U.S. Orbital Sciences. The first launch of a Cyclone-4 rocket from the Brazilian Alcantara space center is scheduled for 2012, he said.
