KIEV, Jan. 26 – All genetically modified organisms (GMO) in Ukraine are illegal, as no GMO has yet been registered, according to the director of Institute for Ecohygiene and Toxicology, Mykola Prodanchuk.
"All GMOs in Ukraine are illegal, as according to the law on biosecurity of 2005, only registered GMOs can be in Ukraine in foodstuff, fodder and plants, while today no GMO has been registered in Ukraine," he said at a press conference in Kiev, adding that if GMOs are being used, they are being used illegally.
