BERLIN, Jan. 24 – Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan could return to the idea of creating a grain pool for making cheap grain supplies to buyers.
The idea was first mooted at the World Grain Forum in St. Petersburg in June 2009. However, practical steps to set up the pool have yet to be taken.
Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk returned to the idea in response to a report of Deputy Agriculture Minister of Kazakhstan Saktash Khasenov at a forum entitled "The Development of Agricultural and Food Industries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia", which was held on January 21, 2011 in Berlin. The forum was held as a part of the International Green Week (IGW), an international exhibition for the food, agricultural, and horticultural industries.
