KYOTO, Jan. 19 – Kyoto, the Japanese twin city of Kiev, wants to cooperate with the Ukrainian capital in the sphere of environmental protection, Japanese officials say.

"As you know, Kyoto is the place where the Kyoto Protocol was signed, and in the future Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City want to develop relations with Kiev in the sphere of environmental protection," Governor of Kyoto Prefecture Keiji Yamada said at a ceremony to sign a bilateral agreement between the municipality of Kyoto and Kiev City State Administration (KCSA) in Kyoto on Wednesday.
