KIEV, Jan. 13 - A total of 564,000 people were registered in Ukrainian employment centers as of January 1, 2011, the State Employment Center of the Labor and Social Policy Ministry reported.
Of the unemployed, 303,800 were women, 260,200 were men, 238,900 were young people, 35,000 were sacked workers and 117,500 were people who are unable to compete equally on the labor market. Some 544.900 people were given the status of being unemployed, of whom 411,300 received unemployment benefits. Of the total number of the unemployed, 236,100 people lived in rural areas, while 308,800 lived in cities and towns.
