KIEV, Dec. 29 – Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has brought to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General's Office a statement about kickbacks and other crimes she says have been committed by the new authorities during the construction of facilities ahead of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.
"In order not to go to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine in vain, I decided that every time I come to the Prosecutor General's Office, so as not to lose my time in vain, I'll report another crime by the authorities. I have such a right according to law, and today I brought another statement to inform the Prosecutor General's Office of a crime ... Today I came to say that Euro 2012, as well as other large-scale construction projects that are advertised on television channels, are being used by [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych and the government so as to earn 20-30% of kickbacks from the state budget," Tymoshenko told reporters before interrogation at the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office on Wednesday.
