KIEV, Dec. 17 – Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said that the BYT-Batkivschyna faction aims not only to protect their leader Yulia Tymoshenko, "but also to block decision making in the country."
"Let's be frank: on December 22 the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund will consider the issue of allocating the next tranche of a loan to Ukraine. If the decisions foreseen in Ukraine's commitments to the IMF are not taken, we will not get loans and be unable to resolve the financial problems in the country. The blocking was aimed at disrupting the budgetary process," the parliament's press service quoted him as saying in an interview with the Rada television channel.
As reported, on December 8, the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYT) called on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to add Ukraine's voluntary refusal to repay the debt to RosUkrEnergo from the state budget to its memorandum with Ukraine, according to a letter sent by the bloc to the IMF Executive Board.
