KIEV, Dec. 16 – European Union diplomats on Thursday requested an urgent meeting with opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko after the authorities restricted her ability to travel by opening an investigation against her.

Tymoshenko told the diplomats at the meeting that the investigation was a “politically motivated persecution” by the authorities, according to her press service.
