President asks prosecutors to crack down on corruption, drugs
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Dec. 1 – President Viktor Yanukovych has asked prosecutors at various levels to step up the fight against corruption and boost supervision of the activities of controlling bodies as a part of the fight against illegal drug sales.

"The realization of the reforms that we have started is possible only with the elimination of corruption, [and] the resumption of investment and business with a fair and unbiased judiciary. I ask prosecutors from prosecutor general's offices of various levels to step up their work on the issue and take comprehensive measures to reinforce the protection of the interests of the state and its citizens," Yanukovych said while speaking at a meeting with prosecutor general's office representatives before the Day of Prosecutor General's Office Officers.
