KIEV, Nov. 25 – The Transport and Communications Ministry plans to increase the tariffs for cargo shipment by rail by 16% in 2011.
The draft decree on the changes in the coefficients applied to the tariff collection adopted in spring 2009 has been posted on the ministry's Web site.
The ministry said in an explanatory note to the draft that the latest indexation of tariffs for cargo shipment across Ukraine was made in October 2008, and with the introduction of the tariff collection from May 1, 2009 the tariffs were not actually increased. Metal and chemical companies from Q4, 2008 to Q2, 2010 had privileges for cargo shipment under a memorandum signed with the Ukrainian government.
