KIEV, Nov. 19 - Ukraine plans to increase state subsidies to the coal mining industry next year and is currently in talks with China over borrowing $2.2 billion for that reason, Volodymyr Fichov, a deputy energy and fuel minister, said.
The government plans to disburse Hryvnia 11 billion ($1.3 billion) to the coal industry in 2011, up from about Hryvnia 9.3 billion in 2010, he said.
“The number that the finance ministry is working with is Hryvnia 11 billion,” Fichov said. “At the same time, we believe Hryvnia 19 billion is what we actually need.”
