KIEV, Nov. 16 – The state committee for technical regulation and consumer policy of Ukraine is to initiate the introduction of Euro 4 and Euro 5 fuel standards from January 1, 2011 only for high-octane gasoline.

A committee press release says that the issue was discussed last week by an interagency commission made up of representatives of the Fuel and Energy Ministry, Defense Ministry, Transport and Communications Ministry, Agriculture Ministry and the state committee for technical regulation and consumer policy.

The report says that some oil refineries in Ukraine are ready to transfer to the new standards. However, several refineries have failed to upgrade their equipment.
