KIEV, Nov. 11 – Ukraine's government is ready to allocate the necessary resources for the production of light-emitting-diodes (LEDs) in the next two years, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.
"Let's us allocate certain resources within two years, and launch the production of LED equipment in Ukraine," he said at a meeting on science and innovation policy in Kiev on Thursday.
He said that after the creation of such enterprises, the government is ready to place state orders for them on behalf of budget-supported organizations for their transfer to the use of LED lamps instead of incandescent light bulbs. He said this would help save more than 30% of the money currently spent on lighting.
