KIEV, Oct. 11 – The cabinet decision to impose grain export quotas is groundless, said Leonid Kozachenko, president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.
"I think that [the introduction of grain export] quotas is a wrong decision. We have excess of grain, which should be exported, so export should be supported, and everything should be done so that farmers received the maximum price of its products," he said.
Kozachenko said that the expected gross grain harvest allows Ukraine to export 12-14 million tons of grain this marketing year without serious consequences. He said that ending grain stocks as of early marketing year would be around five million tons.
