KIEV, Sept. 10 – The selection of Russia's OJSC TVEL for the construction of an enterprise in Ukraine that will manufacture nuclear fuel for VVER-1000 reactors is a good option, according to Mykhailo Umanets, the former chairman of the state committee for nuclear energy use.
"TVEL has all of the technological production areas to produce fuel units, which are located at one site, or at least in one country. Its competitors have opposite situation – [their] production areas are located in various countries. This has negative influence on production processes, on the formation of a unified system of management and quality control."
