KIEV, Sept. 13 – The net worth of Ukrainian banks shrank by 1.7%, to UAH 130.5 billion in August, the National Bank of Ukraine reported on its official Web site.
"As of September 1, 2010 the banks' net worth was UAH 130.5 billion, or 14.5% of the banks' liabilities," a statement reads.
Since the start of the year, the banks' net worth has grown by 3.4%, or UAH 4.3 billion.
According to the NBU, as of the start of autumn the banks' total statutory capital exceeded their net worth. The banks' total assets in August remained almost unchanged at about UAH 1.041 trillion.
