75% of Ukrainian sewage plants fail to meet standards, officials say

KIEV, Sept. 10 – Seventy five percent of the sewage treatment facilities of Ukraine fail to ensure the treatment of sewage water in line with established standards because these facilities have become outdated, Drinking Water of Ukraine Association President Volodymyr Skupchenko said at a press conference in Kiev.

"Seventy five percent of sewage treatment facilitates have become outdated today in terms of technology and can not ensure the [proper] treatment of water in line with those standards that are necessary for discharge to sources of drinking water supply," he said.
