KIEV, Sept. 3 – Javier Solana, the former EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy and Secretary General of the Council of the European Union (1999-2009), has become a member of the Board of the Yalta European Strategy (YES), the YES press service reported, citing Board Chairman and former Polish President (1995-2005) Aleksander Kwasniewski.

"We are very much honored that Dr. Solana has agreed to become a YES board member. We are confident that Dr. Solana, who has always paid significant attention to Ukraine, will use his exceptional experience, unique expertise and political authority in order to achieve the key objectives of the Yalta European Strategy... His outstanding achievements as the EU's chief diplomat will promote the further growth of the influence of YES as a leading social platform in the process of Ukraine's European integration," Kwasniewski said.
