KIEV, Aug. 27 - Ukraine insists on the preservation of the border between Ukraine and Russia in the Kerch Strait that existed in Soviet times, but is ready to reach a compromise on economic issues, according to Oleh Voloshyn, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's information policy department.

Voloshyn said that in the former Soviet Union, the border ran through the Kerch Strait and it was marked on the relevant maps.
