KYIV, May 15 - The consumer confidence index among Ukrainians decreased by 5.2 points in April 2025 - to 79.1 points (on a scale from 0 to 100), the Info Sapiens agency website reported on Thursday.

According to published data, the indicator decreased after a long growth: in December 2024, it increased by 0.4 points (to 71.1 points), in January 2025 - by 4.4 points, in February - by 0.7 points, in March - increased by 8 points and reached 84.3 points.

"The Consumer Confidence Index shows a significantly negative trend in April 2025. The key driver of the decline is worsening economic expectations. Ukrainians have become more pessimistic about the country’s economic outlook, both for the coming year and the next five years (compared to the previous period). At the same time, the current personal financial situation of the population remains largely unchanged," Info Sapiens analysts comment.

It is noted that the current situation index decreased and is 59.8 points, which is 0.7 points lower than the level of this indicator in March. Among the components of this indicator, the index of current personal financial standing increased by 1.1 points and is 55.7 points, the index of feasibility of large purchases decreased by 2.5 points and is 63.9 points.

The economic expectations index decreased by 8.2 points in March and is 91.9 points. In terms of components, the index of expected changes in personal financial standing is 92.3 points, which is 3 points lower than the level of this indicator in March, the index of expected economic development of the country over the next year decreased by 11.6 points and is 76.2 points, and the index of expected economic development of the country over the next 5 years decreased by 10.1 points compared to the previous month and is 107.3 points.

In April, the index of expected unemployment dynamics increased by 2 points and is 121.1 points, and the inflation expectations index increased by 0.2 points and is 183.3 points.

It is emphasized that the index of devaluation expectations decreased by 20.1 points and is 128.2 points.

The consumer sentiment index in Ukraine is determined based on a sample survey of households in the country. During the study, 1,000 people aged 16 and over are interviewed. The field stage of this wave lasted from April 11 to April 23, 2025. (om/ez)
