KIEV, Aug. 20 – Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has called on Ukrainians to come to the building of the Ukrainian parliament on September 7 and support the adoption of a law introducing a moratorium on a rise in prices of gas and housing and utilities tariffs for the public from January 1, 2010, Tymoshenko said in a statement released by the BYT press service on Friday.
According to the statement, Kiev Shevchenkivsky District Court ruled NJSC Naftogaz Ukrayiny should return 12.1 billion cubic meters of gas to Swiss-based RosUkrEnergo until September 1 or by the time agreed between the sides. Thus, the court upheld a decision by Stockholm Arbitration Tribunal.
"It's clear that the ruling by Kiev Shevchenkivsky District Court was taken not at the court but at the office of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych," Tymoshenko said.
