KIEV, Aug. 1 – Ukraine’s household natural gas prices rose 50% on Sunday as part of the government’s promise to reform the sector in exchange for a $15.1 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund.

The gas price hike comes despite a split within the governing coalition concerning the measure, which some coalition members, such as the Communist Party, consider to be too tough.
