KIEV, July 21 – ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel producer, acquired Beryslav Construction Materials Plant in Ukraine to supply limestone to its Ukrainian steel making unit, the company reported Wednesday.
ArcelorMittal did not disclose the deal's price tag.
"This deal will allow ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih to be more independent as concerns the provision of limestone, as the acquired plant will supply around a quarter of our needs for this raw material,” ArcelorMittal's Executive Vice President Arno Pupar-Lafarge said in a statement.
“It must be noted, however, that we will be continuing cooperation with current suppliers, as in any event we need different kinds of limestone and in large quantities that cannot be ensured only by the newly acquired enterprise," Pupar-Lafarge said.
