KIEV, June 9 – Ukraine is not planning to use funds from the International Monetary Fund to cover the state budget deficit, President Viktor Yanukovych said.
"We are not planning to use IMF funds to finance Ukraine's budget. They, first and foremost, will be spent on stabilizing Ukraine's financial sector. This is very important for us, because the stability of the financial system enables the development of production and the economy in general," he said at meeting with IMF Mission Chief for Ukraine Athanasios Arvanitis and Deputy Director of the IMF's European Department Poul Thomsen in Kiev on Wednesday.
