KIEV, March 25 – President Viktor Yanukovych, in his first speech addressing defense issues, said Thursday that Ukraine will come up with a broad initiative aimed at strengthening security in Europe.

The initiative would focus on involving the European Union on the one hand, and Russia and its allies on the other hand, to work together for greater security.

“We have to come up with our own, Ukrainian Initiative, concerning the formation of new security architecture in Europe,” Yanukovych said in an address to the staff of the SBU, the security service.
