KIEV, March 2 – The main aim of Ukraine is to ensure reliable supplies of gas in the required volumes throughout the country, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an exclusive interview with the Ukrainian BBC service in Brussels.
"The main aim that we've set is [to ensure there are] reliable supplies of gas through the territory of Ukraine in the required volumes. That's why I believe that Ukraine will be able to pump about 200 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in the near future. At present Ukraine doesn't even pump 100 billion. We will resolve this problem if we unite the efforts of the supplier of gas - Russia, the European Union – the consumer and Ukraine – the transit [country]. And all the three sides will gain from this," Ukraine's president said.
