Sudzha gas metering station destruction make harder to read gas supply data

KYIV, Aug 13 – One potential problematic issue in continuing the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine could be the need to sign hand-over documents under the foreign economic contract at the end of the month, according to Serhiy Makohon, former head of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU).


Fitch Ukraine's default rating 'RD' from 'C' after bond restructuring term expires

KYIV, Aug 14 - Fitch Ratings has downgraded Ukraine's Long-Term Foreign-Currency (LTFC) Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'RD' from 'C'. Fitch has also downgraded the rating on the 2026 $750 million Eurobond to 'D' from 'C' and affirmed the other foreign-currency bonds at 'C.'


CRH plans to acquire Dyckerhoff Cement Ukraine plants in Rivne, Mykolaiv

KYIV, Aug 14 - CRH Ukraine B.V. (the Netherlands) announced its intention to acquire a 99.9775% stake in the charter capital of Dyckerhoff Cement Ukraine, which owns two cement plants in Rivne and Mykolaiv regions.


Energo-Plus to install new Turkish 60 MW thermal power plant in Ukraine

KYIV, Aug 14 - Research and Production Enterprise Energo-Plus LLC, working in the field of electric power, electrical engineering and electromechanics, plans to implement the first project in Ukraine to transport and install a new 60 MW thermal power plant from Turkey, said its director Yevhen Korf.


EBRD to provide Ukrzaliznytsia with EUR300-mln loan to upgrade locomotives

KYIV, Aug 14 - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to provide the monopoly Ukrainian state railway operator JSC Ukrzaliznytsia with a EUR300 million loan under a state guarantee to upgrade its electric locomotives.


USDA sees Ukraine’s corn harvest up at 30-mln mt in 2022-2023

KYIV, Aug 15 – In its August report, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) increased the forecast for the harvest of Ukrainian corn in 2022/23 (July-June) compared to July by 5 million tons, to 30 million tons from 25 million tons, and its export estimate has been raised by 3.5 million tons to 12.5 million tons from 9 million tons.


Kyiv’s housing rents drop 38% on year in July as supply doubles

KYIV, Aug 15 – The average cost of renting housing in Kyiv in July decreased by 38%, and in Kyiv region – by 25% compared to the same period last year, while the supply has more than doubled, the OLX Real Estate portal reported.


Ukraine investigates illegal imports of Russian nitrate mineral fertilizers

KYIV, Aug 16 – Two former executives of a subsidiary of a Russian producer of nitrate mineral fertilizers were notified that they will be prosecuted for evading customs payments (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), due to which the state budget received over UAH 1.3 billion less for the period 2016-2018, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) reported on Thursday.


Astarta produces 268,000 mt of wheat, highest yield in five years

KYIV, Aug 16 – Astarta, the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, has completed harvesting early grain crops on a total area of 53,800 hectares, including the company threshed 268,000 tons of winter wheat from 46,600 hectares, the highest in the last five years of average yield – 5.76 tons per ha, the agricultural holding said on the website on Monday.


Ukraine reports 7,100 transactions of farmland purchases since July 1

KYIV, Aug 16 – Since the launch of the land market on July 1 and as of the morning of August 16 in Ukraine, a total of 7,100 transactions of agricultural land purchase for agricultural plots with a total area of 14,830 hectares were held, Poltava and Kharkiv regions are leaders in the number of concluded agreements, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported on the website on Friday, August 13.
