Central bank: 2016 ended with 5.4% December money supply spike

KIEV, Jan. 16 - Money supply in Ukraine in December 2016 increased by 5.4%, to UAH 1.102 trillion, according to preliminary monetary statistics data, posted on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).


Naftogaz retains New York law firm to press claim against Russia

KIEV, Jan. 16 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny on January 11 retained Covington & Burling LLP, a New York law firm, for $6.31 million, to represent its interests in arbitration against Russia under a claim over losses it incurred as a result of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.


Naftogaz to start tapping $500 million loan for gas imports next month

KIEV, Jan. 17 - Ukraine’s national energy company Naftogaz Ukrayiny will next month start tapping into a $500 million loan for natural gas imports, Yuriy Vitrenko, the commercial director at Naftogaz, said Tuesday.


Trade turnover with China will near $10 billion in 2013, says PM

KIEV, Jan. 15 – Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said he hopes that trade between Ukraine and China will reach $10 billion in 2013.

According to the Ukrainian government's press service, Azarov said this during a meeting with China's National Defense Minister Liang Guanglie.


IFC to issue up to $85 million to expand OKKO eastern Ukraine chain

EBRD, Raiffeisen to loan companies money to buy John Deere equipment

Hryvnia will slide 8.75% in value this year, World Bank predicts

KIEV, Jan. 16 – The hryvnia will slide 8.75% in 2013 to UAH 8.70/$1 from UAH 8.00/$1 in 2012, the World Bank has predicted.


Kharkiv regional council vote helps clear way to shale gas deal

KIEV, Jan. 17 – The last obstacle to signing a production sharing agreement with Shell on extraction of shale gas was removed on Thursday after the Kharkiv regional council had given its approval to the project.
