Sberbank Ukraine subsidiary sold off for less than its capital

KIEV, March 29 – The deal to sell the Ukrainian subsidiary of Russia's Sberbank cost slightly less than its capital - about $130 million, the Kiev-based 112.ua TV channel reported with reference to the Russian publication Kommersant.


Naftogaz files suit to block increased Gazprom access to Opal pipeline

KIEV, March 29 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny, the national energy company, filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice seeking to block Gazprom’s increased access to OPAL gas pipeline, the company reported Wednesday.


Bootleg cigarette sales declined last year, Philip Morris reports

KIEV, March 28 – The share of illegal cigarettes on the Ukrainian marketshrank to 1.1-1.2% by late 2015 from 10% in 2013, Philip Morris Ukraine Director General Artem Chernis said.


NBU moves to ease restrictions on foreign credit transactions

KIEV, March 28 – The National Bank of Ukraine has mitigated some requirements for foreign credit transactions until June 8.

The NBU also permitted the use of investment accounts of nonresident investors to send funds that banks owe them for a separate currency transaction, the central bank has reported on its website.

The decision is outlined in NBU resolution No. 192 dated March 24 that amends NBU resolution No. 140 dated March 3.


Natural gas stockpile reported down 48.9% since heating season start

KIEV, March 28 - Ukraine since the beginning of the 2015/2016 heating season has reduced natural gas stocks in its underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by 48.9%, or 8.342 billion cubic meters.


Ukraine gas production reported up 3.5% during January-February

KIEV, March 28 - Ukraine increased gas production 3.5% year-on-year in January-February to 3.34 billion cubic meters (bcm), the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.


Naftogaz Ukrayiny reports 51.5% increase for 2015 net revenue

KIEV, March 29 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny saw a 51.5% rise in net revenue in 2015, to UAH 112.672 billion.

According to an unaudited financial report published on Monday, revenue from gas wholesale last year reached UAH 66.866 billion, from gas transit – UAH 45.471 billion and other operations – UAH 424.722 million.


Ukraine wage arrears rose 7.5% last month, government reports

KIEV, March 26 - The total sum of wage arrears in Ukraine rose 7.5% in February, the State Statistics Service reported.

According to the service, wage arrears on March 1, amounted to UAH 1.575 billion, or 5.2% of the monthly wage fund for February, while wage arrears on February 1, 2015 amounted to UAH 1.466 billion, or 5.1% of the monthly wage fund for January.


Moody's downgrades DTEK to Ca from Caa3; maintains negative outlook

LONDON, March 27 - Moody's Investors Service has downgraded to Ca from Caa3 the corporate family rating and to Ca-PD from Caa3-PD the probability of default rating of DTEK ENERGY B.V. Moody's has also downgraded to Ca from Caa3 the senior unsecured bond ratings of DTEK Finance B.V. and DTEK Finance Plc, fully owned
finance subsidiaries of DTEK.


Oschadbank to start updating Soviet-era depositor registers

KIEV, March 29 – The State Savings Bank of Ukraine (Oschadbank) from April will start updating data on registers of Soviet era depositors, to whom the state is planning to pay compensation of UAH 1,000 per person by the end of the current year.
