Electricity exports decline 51.8% for first 10 months of 2009
KIEV, Nov. 17 – Ukraine cut electricity exports by 51.8% or 3.424 billion kWh year-over-year in January-October, to 3.191 billion kWh, the Fuel and Energy Ministry announced.
The halving of supplies is mainly linked to a decision made in late 2008 to replace Ukrainian electricity on the domestic market with electricity generated at the Moldavskaya GRES power plant in Transdnestria, the ministry said. |

Latest analyst forecasts peg 2009 Ukraine GDP drop at 10-15%
KIEV, Nov. 17 – Ukraine's GDP in 2009 could fall more than 10% but not more than 15%, according to experts polled by Interfax-Ukraine.
An economist from Concorde Capital Investment Company, Nikita Mykhailichenko, said that the improvement of the annual GDP growth pace in Q3, 2009 (to 15.9% according to tentative information from the State Statistics Committee) was thanks to a fall in the comparison base and a rise in production this year. |
Dubai-based company acquiring Poltava helicopter manufacturer
KIEV, Nov. 17 - Perla Group International Ltd., a Dubai-based company operating in the aviation and telecoms sectors, recently reached an agreement to acquire a 100% stake in Poltava-based DB Aerocopter, which designs and builds the AK1-3 gasoline-powered, two-seater light helicopter.

Ukrainian homes to pay 35% more for natural gas starting in December
KIEV, Nov. 17 – Household consumers will soon be paying a lot more for natural gas in Ukraine.
The Justice Ministry has registered a resolution of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission on the 35% increase in the selling prices of gas for households starting Dec. 1. |
Restaurant chain to slow expansion in response to business outlook
KIEV, Nov. 14 – Kiev-based Kozyrnaya Karta company, which runs a chain of restaurants in Ukraine, has revised its plans for expansion across the country in response to the economic crisis, Andriy Zadorozhniy, chairman of the company's supervisory board, said in an interview with the Delo daily newspaper. |
