Ukraine’s economy grew 4.5% last year, according to NBU adviser

KIEV, Jan. 18 – Ukraine's economy grew 4.5% in 2010,Statistics for December on the pace of Ukrainian industry, construction, trade and agriculture growth indicate, said Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisers to the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.


Government may end grain quota next month, says agriculture minister

BILA TSERKVA, Jan. 18 - Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said that the government could cancel in February the grain export quotas already approved until March 31, 2011.


Natural gas transit via Ukraine reported down 19.9% last year

KIEV, Jan. 15 - The transit of natural gas via Ukraine declined by 19.9% or 23.78 billion cubic meters (bcm), to 96 bcm in 2009, the Fuel and Energy Ministry reported.

In December alone, the transit of natural gas via Ukraine grew by 12% or 1.16 bcm, to 10.86 bcm.


Ukraine oil extraction fell 7.1% in 2009, energy ministry reports

KIEV, Jan. 18 – Oil extraction in Ukraine in 2009 was reduced by 7.1% or by 222,400 tons, to 2.899,7 million tons.

The Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine that gas condensate extraction last year reached 1.052 million, which is 5.9% or 65,500 tons less from a year ago.


Diesel fuel production off 17.6% in 2009, consulting group reports

KIEV, Jan. 18 – Diesel fuel production, imports and exports in 2009 fell by 17.6% due to the financial crisis, to 4.36 million tons.

According to the A-93 consulting group, the fall in diesel fuel production last year indicates that its consumption in the country fell.


Mobile phone registration brings UAH400 million to budget, says govt

KIEV, Jan. 18 – The introduction of an automated mobile phone registration system has brought UAH 400 million to the national budget by cutting down smuggling, the Ukrainian State Radiofrequency Spectrum Center said.


Germany’s Polysus to supply equipment to cement plant in Crimea

UkrNafta to mount court challenge to NERC natural gas price levels

KIEV, Jan. 15 – UkrNafta, the largest Ukrainian oil extraction company, has said that the prices of Ukrainian-produced gas set by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission for joint ventures in which the company participates are underestimated and plans to challenge them in court, according to a company report made available to Interfax-Ukraine.


Environmental ministry extends Cadogan’s Zahoriansky license

KIEV, Jan. 16 – Ukraine's Environmental Protection Ministry has prolonged Cadogan Petroleum's license for the exploration of the Zahoriansky field for another five years, until April 24, 2014.


AvtoKrAZ Holding reports 19% drop in truck output due to economy

KIEV, Jan. 16 – AvtoKrAZ Holding Company (Kremenchuk in Poltava region), the only heavy truck producer in Ukraine, cut truck production by 19% in 2008 to 3,634.
