Ukraine’s current payments account deficit up more than threefold

KIEV, July 29 – The deficit of the current account of Ukraine's balance of payments in January to June 2008 grew by 3.4 times year-over-year, to $6.7 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.


Russians to help Ukrainians enrich uranium for nuclear industry

KIEV, July 26 – National nuclear energy company EnergoAtom on July 25 signed a deal with Russia's Tekhnosnabexport on enriching Ukrainian uranium for the implementation of a Ukrainian-U.S. project on using nuclear fuel produced by Westinghouse company at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, EnergoAtom reported on Thursday.


Mining and Metalluric Company holding talks with Italian firm

KIEV, July 27 – Kiev-based Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgic Company, as a part of designing a technological concept for Kryvy Rih Mining and Beneficiation Plant of Oxidized Ores in Dolynske in Kirivohrad region, has held talks with representatives of Italy’s Danieli/Danieli-Corus on designing the concept for production of iron-ore pellets from black sand.


Ukraine’s current account deficit more than doubles in first half

KIEV, July 27 – Ukraine’s current account deficit in January through June grew140% over the same period last year, to $1.9 billion (3.2% of GDP), the National Bank of Ukraine reported, referring to preliminary data.

Ukraine to start exporting power to Europe on June 30, minister says

KYIV, June 28 - Commercial exports of 100 MW of electricity from Ukraine to Europe will start on June 30, Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said.

ENTSO-E has made a long-awaited decision on the official start from June 30, 2022 of the commercial export of electricity from Ukraine to Europe. The initial export volume is 100 MW and the volumes will increase gradually, after a monthly assessment by ENTSO-E of the impact on the European energy system," the minister wrote on Facebook.


Metinvest wants govt to cut taxes to help Ukrainian economy

KYIV, June 28 – Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group considers it necessary for the government to start the economy by reducing taxes, deregulating and encouraging investments, and notes a number of positive steps on the part of the state to stimulate business in war conditions.
