Ukraine and EIB announce EUR175 million credit to Ukrenergo

KIEV, Sept. 16 – Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have signed an agreement on the provision of a EUR 175 million credit to national energy company Ukrenergo for the construction of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) to Kakhovska substation 750 kV overhead transmission line.


Ukraine planning to increase electricity generation 1.3% next year

KIEV, Sept. 19 – Ukraine is planning to increase electricity generation by 1.3% or by 2.601 billion kilowatt hours in 2012, to 200.19 billion kilowatt hours compared to the expected level of electricity generation in 2011.


EU auto insurance accident forms to be used starting Sept. 19

KIEV, Sept. 19 – The EU accident report form, which is being introduced in Ukraine from Sept. 19, 2011, will work in full on the insurance market in early 2013, President of Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU), Volodymyr Romanishyn, said at a press conference last week in Kiev.


Ukraine natgas price won’t rise much next year, says Gazprom official

SOCHI, Sept. 17 - The price of natural gas to be supplied to Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2010 will be “about $250 per 1,000 cubic meters,” and it will not change significantly in 2011, Gazprom Deputy CEO Valery Golubev said.

KIEV, Sept. 16 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny will seek the return of $1.7 billion of RosUkrEnergo debt assigned under a contract with Russia's Gazprom, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko said at a meeting of Parliament's temporary commission investigating a Stockholm Arbitration Tribunal ruling and the activities of RosUkrEnergo.


Economy won’t hit pre-crisis level before 2013, says deputy minister

KIEV, Sept. 16 - Ukraine's economy can return to its pre-crisis level only in 2013, said Deputy Economy Minister Iryna Kriuchkova.

"We won't be able to return to the pre-crisis level in 2012," she said at a briefing on Thursday. "We won't manage."

Illich Iron & Steel Works to invest EUR400-500m in converter in 2008

KREMENCHUK, Sept. 17 - Illich Iron & Steel Works, one of Ukraine's top three steel producers, will invest EUR400-500 million in a converter plant next year, Volodomyr Boiko, the company's CEO, said in Kremenchuk.
