PrivatBank posed systemic threat to Ukraine banking, Poroshenko says
KIEV, Dec 19 – President Petro Poroshenko said that the situation with PrivatBank (Dnipro) was a threat to Ukraine's entire banking system.
"A threat to the bank and the whole Ukrainian banking system has appeared. It is obvious for us. Our key financial partners – IMF [International Monetary Fund], World Bank, EBRD [European Bank for Reconstruction and Development] and others – have expressed their serious alarm with this situation in the past six months," the president said in his address to Ukrainians. |
Cabinet prolongs memorandum of understanding with metals plants
KIEV, Dec. 19 – The Cabinet of Ministers has prolonged a memorandum of understanding with metallurgical plants signed on February 5, 2013 on beneficial purchases of electricity by electrometallurgical plants for 2014 and expanded the list of companies to Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant and Pobuzhsky Iron Nickel Plant, the Industrial Policy Ministry has reported. |
Ukraine continuing to dispose of toxic rocket fuel component
KIEV, Dec. 18 – Ukraine is continuing disposal of its stocks of melange, a toxic rocket fuel component.
On Tuesday, over 380 tons of melange stored at a military base in Kharkiv region, were loaded into seven railway tanker cars and sent to Russia for further safe disposal at a specialized chemical plant, the Defense Ministry reported. |
