EBRD to start loaning money to Ukraine in hryvnias this year

KIEV, June 20 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide 25-30% of its total financing to Ukraine in hryvnias this year.


SPF to sell stakes in Sumykhimpron, Odessa Port-Side and Turboatom

KIEV, June 20 – The State Property Fund plans in July to announce a tender to sell a 92.75% stake in Sumykhimprom, and in December a 99.57% stake in Odessa Port-Side Plant and a 75.22% stake in Turboatom.


Number of Kiev millionaires grew 25% last year, tax service reports

KIEV, June 20 – Ukraine’s capital city had 236 more millionaires at the end of 2011 than had in the year before, a rise of 25%, the Kiev agencies of the State Tax Service reported.

According to the report, based on the results of the declaration campaign of the citizens' incomes obtained in 2011, the general number of millionaires with Kiev residence permits totaled 916 people in 2011, while in 2010 it was 680 people.


Singapore company completes oil and gas rig ahead of schedule

Energy and coal ministry increases fuel excise duty by EUR35.26/ton

KIEV, June 20 – The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reports it has increased the excise duty on gasoline and diesel fuel for the second ten-day period of June by EUR 35.26 per ton, to EUR 233.26 per ton.


Ukraine gross foreign debt up 2.7% to $120.5 billion in first quarter

KIEV, June 17 – Ukraine's gross foreign debt grew by 2.7% to $120.5 billion in Q1, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.

"In the first quarter of 2011 Ukraine's gross foreign debt grew by $3.1 billion, or 2.7%, to $120.5 billion (84.1% of GDP) as of April 1, 2011," the NBU said in a posting on its official Web site.


Accelerated GDP rise brings recovery hope, says NBU advisor

KIEV, June 17 – The pickup of Ukraine’s GDP growth over the first five months of 2012, from 4.6-4.9% in April to some 5% in May, provides encouraging news that the country’s economic recovery may be accelerating, according to Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisors to the National Bank of Ukraine's governor.
