Synevo to open 30 new laboratory centers in Ukraine by late 2017

KIEV, Sept. 20 – The European network of medical laboratories Synevo will invest EUR 2 million in opening 30 new laboratory centers in different cities and towns of Ukraine by late 2017, Marketing Manager Yana Dekhtiar told Interfax-Ukraine.


Naftogaz chief clashes with government plan to boost storage

KIEV, Sept. 20 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny chief Andriy Kobolev clashed with the government's plan to increase its natural gas stockpile, saying it would be “inappropriate“ for Ukraine to accumulate more than 15.1 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas by October 15 in underground gas storage facilities.


Fujikura plans to realize €40 million of revenue from Lviv project

KIEV, Sept. 17 – Japan's Fujikura electric wire and telecommunications systems corporation plans to receive EUR 40 million of revenue from an electronic element and wire plant in Lviv region which is being created as part of an investment project, Fujikura Managing Executive Officer Ichiro Kamada said at the presentation of the project in Kiev.


Britain's Ferrexpo Plc reports $174 million stranded at insolvent bank

KIEV, Sept. 18 - British mining company Ferrexpo Plc with main assets in Ukraine after the payment of the interim dividend as of September 16, had total cash balance of approximately $280 million, and of this cash balance, approximately $174 million of which was held at Bank Finance and Credit, which belongs to its majority shareholder.


NBU places Bank Finance and Credit in insolvent bank category

KIEV, Sept. 18 – The National Bank of Ukraine in resolution No. 612 has decided to place Bank Finance and Credit, which is under control of MP Kostiantyn Zhevaho, in the category of insolvent banks.


Rada ratifies EBRD credit agreement for hydropower plant renovation

Parliament approves deficit increase to bail out coal producers

KIEV, Sept. 19 – Parliament at the initiative of the government has increased the partial coverage of the costs of coal products by UAH 2.1 billion through increasing the budget deficit and reducing the funding of Naftogaz Ukrayiny.


Parliament votes to amend production sharing agreement legislation

KIEV, Sept. 20 – Parliament has removed discrepancies in Ukrainian law regarding the rights of investors participating in Product Sharing Agreements (PSAs) to freely use products extracted and allocated in proportion to the share of investors.


Ukraine to get $3 billion credit line from China in return for corn

KIEV, Sept. 20 – Ukraine intends in mid October to sign an agreement with the Export-Import Bank of China that will give Kiev $3 billion in credit lines in exchange for supplies of maize, the Financial Times reported, quoting Ukraine's Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk.

"China is asking for about 3 m tonnes of corn each year... to be supplied at market prices that are set at the time of export," Prysiazhniuk told the Financial Times.


Top NBU advisor blames August slowdown on worsening of global economy

KIEV, Sept. 20 – The slowdown in the pace of Ukrainian economic development registered by the State Statistics Service at the end of August was anticipated and was mainly caused by the worsening of the situation in the global economy, said Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of a group of advisors to the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.
