GRECO releases third-round report on corruption and transparency

KIEV, Nov. 18 – The Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) has released a report as a result of third round of the evaluation of Ukraine in the area of the criminalization of corruption and transparency in financing political parties and election campaigns, the Justice Ministry's press service reported.


IKEA to stick to plans to enter Ukrainian market despite downturn

KIEV, Nov. 18 – IKEA of Sweden does not plan to review its plans to enter the Ukrainian market because of the economic crisis, Oksana Belaichik, IKEA spokesperson for Russia and the CIS, told Interfax-Ukraine.


Altcom in talks with France’s Bouyges on Ukraine road construction

KIEV, Nov. 19 – Donetsk-based Altcom Industrial Group and France's Bouygues Comapny are holding preliminary negotiations on the joint construction of roads in Ukraine.

According to a posting on the Web site of Altcom Group, the French company is ready to invest in the building of Ukrainian roads if the state provides traffic guarantees.


Ukraine exports 10 million tons of grain from July 1 through Nov. 19

KIEV, Nov. 19 – Ukraine exported around 10 million tons of grain and two million tons of rapeseed from the beginning of the marketing year (July 2008 through June 2009) through Nov. 19, Agriculture Minister Yuriy Melnyk said.

Naftogaz Ukrayiny continues postponement of 2006 financial report

KIEV, Nov. 19 - The state-owned Naftogaz Ukrayiny has decided following a meeting with bondholders to postpone the issuance of its financial report for 2006, violating a covenant with the company's eurobond holders, one of the market players has told Interfax-Ukraine.


Ukrtranscontainer opens largest container terminal in Illichevsk

ODESSA, Nov. 20 - Ukrtranscontainer, a private company managed by Russia's National Container Company (NCC), under its program to increase capacity has opened the largest container terminal in Ukraine (Illichevsk in Odessa region), which is able to process ocean container ships with a capacity of up to 6,000 TEU, which arrive from Asian ports to the Black Sea.


Donbas Fuel Energy plans to invest $380 million to upgrade plants

DONETSK, Nov. 20 - Donbas Fuel Energy Company (DTEK) plans to invest $380 million in 2007-2012 into the upgrade and development of the Zuyevskaya, Kurakhovskaya and Luganskaya thermal power plants, DTEK Director for Generation and Distribution Garry Levesley has said.


Safety measures now in place at Ukrainian coal mines, says official

DONETSK, Nov. 20 - Greater safety measures have been put in place at all Ukrainian coal mines exposed to the risk of methane outbursts, Serhiy Storchak, chairman of the Ukrainian State Committee for Industrial and Occupational Safety and Mining Supervision, said in Donetsk on Tuesday.
