Company to produce photovoltaic modules using local content

KIEV, Aug. 21 – Kvazar is ready to produce photovoltaic (PV) modules with a local content of over 50%, the installation of which during the construction of solar power plants allows the sale of power under a feed-in tariff, the company said.


Ukraine mulling seizure of privatized Lisichansk oil refinery

KIEV, Aug. 21 - Ukraine may look into re-privatization of Lisichansk Oil Refinery if its owner, Russian oil major Rosneft, continues to delay its restart, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytskiy said Wednesday.

The refinery was shut down in March 2012 and is currently expected to resume operation in March 2014.

Level of shadow economy in Ukraine reported up 0.4% in first quarter

KIEV, Aug. 21 – The level of the shadow economy in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2012 grew by 0.4 percentage points year-over-year, but when rounding to a whole number the figure remained unchanged - 34% of gross domestic product, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported.

2 tenders expected next month for major shale and natural gas fields

KIEV, Aug. 21 - Ukraine will probably announce two tenders for development of major shale gas and natural gas fields next month, Environment and Natural Resources Minister Eduard Stavytskiy said Tuesday.

The fields will include Slobozhanske shale gas deposit in eastern regions of Ukraine, and a Foroske deepwater natural gas field offshore the Black Sea, he said.
