Ukraine to boost imports of coal in October as shortages loom: minister

KYIV, Sept 29 – The Ministry of Energy, in preparation for the high-demand season, plans to cover the shortage of coal by increasing its imports in October, Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

Ukraine slaps high anti-dumping duties on Chinese bolts, nuts

KYIV, Sept 29 – The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (ICMT) of Ukraine from September 29 introduced the final anti-dumping measures against imports from China of a number of bolts and nuts in the amount of 32.47% to 67.4%, depending on the manufacturer, for five years, according to an announcement in the Uriadovy Kurier government's newspaper.


Low power prices encourage environmentally harmful steel smelters

KYIV, Sept 29 – The current level of electricity prices in Ukraine makes it profitable to smelt steel in outdated and environmentally harmful open-hearth furnaces, and not in environmentally friendly electric steel-making furnaces, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Interpipe Wheel and Pipe Company Denys Morozov said.

Energoatom increases 0.8% on year power generation in January-August

KYIV, Sept 27 – Power generation by all power plants of state-owned enterprise Energoatom in January-August 2019 increased by 0.8% (by 428.7 million kWh) compared to the same period last year, to 54.698 billion kWh.
