Ukraine assesses environmental damage to Trypilska Thermal Power Plant

KYIV, April 22 – Environmental prosecutors, together with other specialists, are establishing the amount of environmental damage caused as a result of Russian missile attacks on the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv region, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reports.


Ukraine’s customs index lowest since 2019, indicating growing corruption

KYIV, April 21 – The customs index in the second half of 2020 reached 3.08 points (on a 5-point scale), which is the lowest indicator since 2019, and compared to the first half of last year by 0.29 points, the European Business Association (EBA) reported based on the results of an expert research conducted with the participation of 85 representatives of its member companies.


Ukraine’s shadow economy share expands to 31% of GDP in Jan-Sep 2020

KYIV, April 21 – The level of the shadow economy in Ukraine in January-September 2020 amounted to 31% of GDP, which is 3 percentage points (p.p.) more compared to the same period in 2019, according to an analytical report of the Economy Ministry.

NBU survey shows Ukrainian firms are slightly more optimistic on sales

KYIV, April 21 – About 29.5% of companies surveyed by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expect a 5-25% reduction in sales in the next 28 days, and another 26.5% expect more than 25% reduction, the NBU reported. This is a slight improvement from the previous week, when the figures stood at 34% and 23.5%, respectively.
